Career overview
Dan is originally from Haarlem in The Netherlands and started his career in teaching as an hourly-paid lecturer at the University of Staffordshire, formerly Staffordshire University, where he also undertook a BSc and MSc in Software Engineering.
His MSc thesis looked at using machine learning models to classify individuals as diabetic/non-diabetic.
Research areas
Although Dan is a teaching academic, he is currently doing his PhD in the area of autism identification using AI and robotics.

Dan also aims to create a public multi-modal dataset used for identifying autistic traits by the end of his PhD studies.
