Role

Dr Rowley is a Research Fellow in the Sociology of Health and Illness. She is investigating the experiences of people who care for former athletes living with neurodegeneration.

Career overview

Dr Rowley is an experienced lecturer and social scientist. She was a Senior Research Fellow at Staffordshire University teaching on the Doctorate of Education and is a doctoral supervisor. Dr Rowley was also a lecturer and course leader at the University of Liverpool Medical School and taught at the Centre for the Treatment of Addiction for six years.

She completed her Doctorate in Education in 2013 investigating the impact of education on addiction recovery and developed this work into a three year funded research programme across Europe. Recent research includes: Poverty at the end of life, Malnutrition in older people and the impact of the 'Levelling Up' agenda on care careers.

Dr Rowley also manages Trent Dementia  - a charity based in Nottingham supporting people affected by dementia .
