Role
Sarah Anne is a Senior Lecturer of Microbiology in the department of Biosciences. I am the head of the Antimicrobial Resistance, Omics and Microbiota (AROM: STAFF - AROM @ NTU (arom-ntu.net)) group research theme. My research focuses on understanding pathogenicity and lifestyle of anaerobic bacteria, bacterial communities (biofilms), including their communication and host-bacterial interactions.

Career overview
2004 - 2008 PhD from the University of Nottingham working of posttranslational modification in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
2008 – 2012 Postdoctoral Researcher in the Clostridial Research Group at the University of Nottingham.
2012 – 2016 Senior Research Fellow in the Clostridial Research Group at the University of Nottingham.
2016 – 2023 Assistant and since 2021 associated Professor of Microbiology at the University of Birmingham.
2023 – present Senior Lecturer in Microbiology at Nottingham Trent University.
Research areas
Research interests include the oral microbiome in health and disease, in particular the pathogenesis of Fusobacterium nucleatum and other anaerobes, multispecies biofilms, bacterial communication, novel antimicrobials and antimicrobial materials, as well as host-microbe interactions.
