Role

Cat Lazenby is a lecturer in the Primary Education team, working across the undergraduate and postgraduate teacher training courses. Although she delivers lectures and seminars across the Primary curriculum, her specialisms are Music and EYFS. Cat also supports students with their final year Independent Studies research project and their Leadership and Management module. She is also a Lead Mentor, working with mentors in schools who are supporting our trainees on placement.

Additionally, Cat is the PGCE Primary and Assessment Only Primary admissions lead and therefore is involved with reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and analysing recruitment figures for these routes. As part of this role, she is also part of the Nottingham Institute of Education Marketing Champions group.

Career overview

Prior to joining NTU in 2023, Cat worked for 15 years as a primary school teacher, in a range of subject and phase leadership roles, including Pupil Premium Lead, PSHE Lead, Music Lead and EYFS Phase Lead. She led CPD relating to EYFS for colleagues in her own school, and across other schools within a large academy trust.
