David is Head of Rugby with specific focus on the performance programme, whilst overseeing the development and participation elements of the sport alongside the Rugby Development Officer. The main focus of this role focuses on long term strategic planning, coach mentoring, recruitment and on field performances of teams and individuals. With the programmes links to Nottingham Rugby in The Championship, the player pathway at NTU offers students the opportunity to play BUCS rugby at performance level moving through the ranks to potentially playing professional rugby at Nottingham and beyond.

Career overview

David doubles his role at NTU alongside being assistant coach at Nottingham Rugby in The English Championship. He arrived at Nottingham after two years coaching in New Zealand as Director of Rugby at the historic King's College, as well as working with Auckland Mitre 10 squad and as Head Coach of Auckland 7s. His experience in the student game is extensive with ten years working in BUCS at University of St Andrews as Director of Rugby as well as Head Coach of Scottish Students XV. David is undertaking his UKCC Level 4 course in Rugby Union this season to accompany his masters degree in High Performance Sports Coaching.
