Sam is the Head Lacrosse at NTU, he oversees the three men’s and three women's teams that compete in BUCS as well as the two development teams. Sam’s main focus is the delivery of the performance lacrosse programmes which includes recruitment both here in the UK and Internationally, the on-field performances of teams and individual player development, providing students with links to compete internationally.

Career overview

Prior to his appointment at NTU, Sam worked as a Product Designer and in Marketing in various industries. Sam has had a successful 16-year coaching career at the club, university, national academy and international levels. His coaching highlights at NTU include leading the men’s performance team to five consecutive BUCS National Championships winning the BUCS National Championship in 2018 and 2023. He also led the women’s performance team win the BUCS National Trophy Championship and earn promotions to the BUCS Premiership 1 in 2021. Sam graduated from Salford University in 2007 with BA Hons in Industrial Design.

External activity

External coaching highlights include over 12-years delivering on the England Talent Pathway, being an Assistant Coach at the 2008 U19 World Championships helping England to a 4th place finish. Sam was the England Senior Assistant Coach in the lead up to the 2023 World Championships in the USA.  Sam also had a successful playing career both at club and international levels, winning four European Club Championships and eight Premier League titles with Stockport Lacrosse Club. Internationally, Sam has played in four consecutive World Championships and won three European Championship gold medals with England Lacrosse.
