Sam is the Head Lacrosse at NTU, he oversees the three men’s and three women's teams that compete in BUCS as well as the two development teams. Sam’s main focus is the delivery of the performance lacrosse programmes which includes recruitment both here in the UK and Internationally, the on-field performances of teams and individual player development, providing students with links to compete internationally.

Career overview

Prior to his appointment at NTU, Sam worked as a Product Designer and in Marketing in various industries. Sam has had a successful 12-year coaching career at the club, university, academy and international levels. Sam is currently the BUCS SAG Chair for Lacrosse and a Level 3 performance coach. His coaching highlights at NTU include leading the men’s performance team to four consecutive BUCS National Championships winning the university’s first BUCS National Championship in 2018. He also led the women’s performance team to a BUCS Trophy Final in 2020. Sam graduated from Salford University in 2007 with BA Hons in Product Design.

External activity

External coaching highlights include over 8-years delivering on the England Talent Pathway, being an Assistant Coach at the 2008 U19 World Championships helping England to a 4th place finish. Sam is currently the England Senior Assistant Coach who are currently preparing for the 2021 European Championships in Poland and 2023 World Championships in the USA.  Sam also had a successful playing career both at club and international levels, winning four European Club Championships and seven Premier League titles with Stockport Lacrosse Club. Internationally Sam has played in four consecutive World Championships won three European Championship gold medals with England Lacrosse.
