The Centre for Broadcasting & Journalism (CBJ) has outstanding specialist facilities to enable our journalism students to develop their skills in a professional real-life journalistic environment that is as close to industry-standard as possible.

We’ve created a learning environment that’s as close as possible to the real world of industry. You’ll have access to a fully functioning TV studio, with production facilities and three radio studios all developed to industry standard.

Our Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism (CBJ) hosts our industry-accredited undergraduate and postgraduate courses in journalism, supported by cutting-edge facilities that replicate real-world media environments. Our students have access to:

  • a 4K-equipped TV studio
  • professional radio studios
  • dedicated podcasting suite.

Through practical learning experiences like newsroom simulations ("newsdays") and placements with major media outlets such as the BBC and Sky Sports, our students develop essential skills for careers in broadcast, digital, and print journalism. Student technical resources

The CBJ Tech Store has a large stock of broadcast-quality audio and video recording equipment and accessories, all free to loan.

This includes:

  • Panasonic AC90 and AC130 HD digital camcorder kits
  • Canon and Panasonic DSLR cameras and lenses
  • GoPro and 360 cameras
  • Marantz digital audio recorders
  • Mobile journalism kits
  • Manfrotto tripods
  • Sony, Rode and Audio-Technica microphones
  • Sennheiser radio mics
  • LED lights.

The production facilities have a dedicated team of friendly and experienced technicians who provide students with technical support.
