JaxMore Creative Photography

JaxMore Creative Photography (formerly KTBB Photography) has been delivering bespoke photography services since 2018.

Based in a fully equipped studio in Chellaston, Derby, and offering mobile services, the company serves a diverse client base, including manufacturers, retailers, direct sales companies, and restaurant groups. Recognising the need to strengthen its market position and communicate the value of premium photography more effectively, JaxMore sought fresh insights to refine its strategy.

In today’s competitive digital landscape, high-quality visual content can make all the difference in brand perception and sales.

When business owners Julia Dallimore and Adam Jackson met a member of Nottingham Business School (NBS) at a local business networking event in 2024, they saw an opportunity. By setting a challenge for a team of postgraduate Marketing students as part of their Consultancy Experience Project, JaxMore could gain valuable research-led insights at no cost while supporting the development of future business leaders.

The Project

After a short conversation with NBS staff, who helped develop the challenge outline and put things in motion, the consultancy project was structured around key objectives to inform a research-driven marketing strategy for JaxMore. The student team focused on understanding the impact of professional photography on brand perception, customer trust, and sales performance. They also made a point of carrying our primary research by talking to actual consumers.

Their research revealed some compelling insights:

  • Studies indicate that high-quality images can increase sales conversion rates by up to 94% (MDG Advertising, 2022), reinforcing JaxMore’s value proposition.
  • Research from Shopify found that products with professional photography were 40% more likely to be purchased than those with lower-quality images.
  • Consumer psychology highlights that trust is built through visual consistency and quality, making professional imagery a crucial investment for premium brands.

To strengthen these findings, the team examined real-world case studies from high-end brands that successfully leveraged premium visuals to enhance their market position. The conclusion was clear: professional photography is not just an expense but a strategic investment in brand equity.

Strategic Recommendations

Building on their research, the consultancy team proposed a multi-faceted marketing approach to attract high-value clients who understand the return on investment of professional photography. Their recommendations included:

  • Content marketing strategy: developing blog posts, white papers, and case studies showcasing the impact of professional photography on sales.
  • Social proof and testimonials: highlighting success stories and data-driven evidence on how clients have benefited from high-quality visuals.
  • Targeted advertising: implementing LinkedIn and Instagram campaigns aimed at decision-makers in the retail and manufacturing sectors.
  • Educational approach: hosting webinars or workshops to educate potential clients on the significance of professional photography in marketing.
  • Visual demonstrations: before-and-after comparisons of high-end and low-quality photography to highlight the difference in engagement and brand perception.

At the conclusion of the project, Adam Jackson reflected on the experience: “We got exactly what we asked for, great research, and the majority of recommendations were actionable in the real world.”

Conclusion and Impact

JaxMore Creative Photography was highly impressed with the consultancy project’s outcomes. The detailed research and marketing recommendations provided actionable insights that were quickly integrated into the company’s strategy.

“Our expectations were exceeded,” noted the JaxMore team. “The students delivered exactly what we needed—strong research and practical recommendations. We’ve already started using their findings in our marketing, and the engagement results have been fantastic.”

The project not only provided JaxMore with a clearer marketing direction but also reinforced the business value of high-quality visual content. With a stronger proposition and a more targeted marketing approach, JaxMore is well-positioned to attract high-value clients and drive business growth.

Supervising Academic for the project, Insha Amin, reflected on the experience: “This was my first experience supervising a student team and I really enjoyed working with the group,” she commented. “The students worked hard, behaved professionally and used our regular meetings to discuss ideas and refine their approach. I am grateful to Julia and Adam for supporting the students throughout the entire journey and delighted they enjoyed taking part.”

Given the success of this collaboration, JaxMore Creative Photography is already planning its next challenge, this time with a team of MSc Management students to explore further growth opportunities.

For businesses looking to gain fresh strategic insights while supporting the next generation of business professionals, partnering with NBS students on a consultancy project is a rewarding move.
