“Before the course, I studied BSc Animal Biology at Nottingham Trent University. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, as well as the beautiful Brackenhurst Campus. The facilities are great on site, and I felt that I had lots of support from the lecturers and University throughout my degree.

“The MRes in Endangered Species Recovery and Conservation focuses on how we can utilise our scientific knowledge and practical skills to benefit the recovery of endangered species through conservation genetics, mitigation, and other methods.

“The course is designed for anyone who has an interest in endangered species and would like to progress their skills in conserving the planet and wildlife.

“The academic staff are very supportive. I work closely with Dr. Nicholas Ray, who introduced me into the field of White Shark ecology in my undergraduate degree, and this allowed me to conduct a research project in South Africa investigating the composition of White Sharks in Mossel Bay. We now plan to advance my research at postgraduate level, and I feel confident that this course will provide me with the practical and theoretical skills needed in the field. I’ve learnt invaluable skills such as communication, time management, laboratory techniques and scientific writing. When I graduate, I hope to pursue a research centred role in elasmobranch ecology and begin a PhD.”
