More about Katie

Why did you choose to study your course at NTU?

I was drawn to NTU because of the positive reviews from previous students and the wide range of up-to-date facilities and amenities; after visiting and meeting lecturers who really had a passion for teaching and an interest in the course content, I knew I wanted to study at NTU.

What do you enjoy most about your course?

I love how the course is designed to give me real skills and knowledge that I can apply in practice to provide better care for my patients.

How do you find your modules and what have you most enjoyed studying?

The modules have a great breadth and depth of knowledge; there is a lot of content to cover so it is important to keep up to date as the units are released the content is broken down so that it is easy to understand.

What do you think about the facilities available on your course and what do you use the most?

There are a nice range of modern facilities that have been designed to help with the course; the veterinary nursing building has everything needed to practice key practical skills and the library is a perfect chilled place to revise and prepare for exams or assignments.

What do you think about Brackenhurst Campus? What do you get up to in your spare time?

The campus is beautiful has plenty to see and do – from seeing the farm animals to the walled garden and coffee at the orangery. Just make sure to wear good shoes as it can get a bit muddy.

What is your top tip for someone considering studying/living at Brackenhurst Campus?

The library has such a huge range of resources both online and in person, and you can book one-to-one sessions for help with referencing, grammar, statistics, finding reliable sources and more. If living on-site doing an online shop to be delivered is much easier than travelling to a shop as they are a bit of a distance away– this way you know you haven’t forgotten anything.

Why would you recommend your course to someone considering studying it?

Whilst the BSc Veterinary Top Up gives you skills needed to progress in to more intense veterinary work (such as intensive care units, referral practices, etc.), I would still recommend the course even if you do not plan to move in to these sectors as it has helped in my everyday practice and given me more confidence in my knowledge and abilities as a veterinary nurse.

What are your plans for after the course and how do you feel your course has/ will help you to achieve that goal?

Eventually I would like to move into a veterinary hospital/referral setting where I will have the chance to nurse more critically ill patients and apply skills I have learnt such as advanced pain management.

Still need help?
