More about Berk

What made you choose to study at NTU?
“Not only was I compelled by the top-notch learning environment here at NTU but the endless educational, vocational and exchange opportunities provided by the University were also big influences for me. More importantly, the minute I laid eyes upon this beautiful and modern university I felt an inexplicable urge to study here; it felt as though this was where my dreams were going to come true!”

What do you enjoy most about your course?
“Rather than having a narrow approach to content, the course covers most of the fashion retail roles available today which widens future job prospects. We have very professional lecturers who are knowledgeable in the field and this greatly helps us to learn all the necessary points.”

Has the course included any guest speakers?
“Yes, we’ve heard from a garment technologist from Next and a visual designer from Urban Outfitters.”

How do you find the facilities?
“On a course specific level, the new Barnes Wallis building feels like we have our own place that we can go to whenever we need, without being unnecessarily disturbed. All of the buildings at NTU are modern and beautifully designed, we have a beautiful campus.”

How did you find Welcome Week?
“Welcome Week was very warm and welcoming. I remember the student representatives being scattered all around the campus, ready to help the students and families. Moving into halls was a great experience and it helped me to underline the importance of self-sufficiency and freedom.”

Have you joined any societies?
“I have joined the fashion society which has allowed me to integrate well into my course. Joining a society gives you the opportunity to make a new wave of friends and take part in unmissable events.”

What has been the highlight of your first term at NTU?
“The highlight of first term was our fascinating field trip to the John Smedley factory (Derby) and the Victoria and Albert Museum (London) which gave us the chance to apply what we had learned. I’m now looking forward to the Florence trip next year and the placement opportunities all over Europe and USA.”
