More about Joanna
Joanna has secured a year-long work placement with Julien Macdonald, London.
“When I was comparing universities my main priority was finding the best place to study knitwear, and the facilities. This course has a great reputation for knitwear globally and many companies in industry are choosing to take interns from NTU before anywhere else.
“I enjoy having the freedom to bring my ideas to life. The full control over the quality of the fabric and choice of yarn, texture, colour and the garment itself. It’s great being in control of which direction to pursue, whether focusing on fashion, textiles or a combination of both.
“The course staff are always very supportive. It’s great to know they’re just an email away and are always happy to offer support in person. They always find a way which I can push my work further, though tutorials, one-to-one feedback and during workshops.
“For me, NTU is the best place to study knitwear design. The course has fantastic lecturers and tutors for knitwear, all with lots of industry experience and NTU has great contacts and relationships in the industry. As the course offers insights into textiles and fashion, it’s perfect for someone who hasn’t chosen their speciality yet.”
