What motivated you to enrol onto the course?

I have been part of a public sector organisation in an emerging economy for almost 10 years. My organisation offers technical assistance and advisory services to private businesses including international trade promotion and development of favourable business environment. I observed a correlation between public and private sectors policies regarding business which represents two faces of one coin. I have been seeking to reveal the hidden side of the coin in order to sustain a professional development in this field. I needed to merge between the viewpoints of the public sector official and the investor/business owner, in order to be able to participate efficiently and effectively in formulating and implementing the right business policies and strategies.

The MBA program at NBS should equip me with the required high quality and adequate business leadership knowledge and skills. As I have been aspiring to learn and experience up-to-date methods of formulating strategies, business policy mix, designing action plans, delivering accurate and effective execution, efficient monitoring and following up, in order to offer credible and valid recommendations and solutions aligned with a fast-paced business environment.

Tell us about your experience of the change management project for Kaefer.

The strategic change and consultancy experience with Kaefer has been a remarkable milestone in my MBA program and my personal and professional development journey. I had the opportunity to practice leadership of a high performing and highly diverse team. The team was motivated by the fact of working on a sustainability consultancy project for one of the biggest industrial services providers in the UK and Ireland. We noted a significant interest at Kaefer to enhance the approach of sustainable and responsible practices related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030, in particularly SDG 13 ‘Climate action’ and the UK Net Zero Carbon plans.

As a team we built on our diverse professional experiences and worked on allocating the relevant academic and practical resources together with the acquired knowledge and skills of the MBA program in order to deliver a high-quality consultancy for Kaefer that matches expectations. Our aim was to advice Kaefer regarding the best practices and strategic approaches to tackle issues of organisational change required to deeply embed sustainability and responsibility in the core strategies and activities of the business. This consultancy project process involved methods and techniques of gathering primary data through interviews with in-house professionals, and secondary data from open sources and NTU library resources.

Finally, it has been an intensive real-life experience of creating value and offering advise to a reputable organisation. It opened up new horizons of strategic thinking and implementation of leadership and emotional intelligence skills. I had the opportunity to experience managing diverse stakeholders in a complex context bounded by a tight timeframe. It equipped me with deep insights about sustainability and responsible business practices where I shall adopt on personal and professional levels.
