The BA (Hons) Business Management with Accounting & Finance course stood out to me due to its well-rounded curriculum that merges essential business management principles with in-depth financial analysis—providing both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed in the business world.

What is your favourite thing about your course?
My favourite thing about my course is the perfect blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application. The curriculum not only covers essential concepts in business management and finance but also includes real-world projects, case studies, and internships that allow me to apply what I've learned in practical settings.
How would you rate the course facilities and why?
I would rate the course facilities at Nottingham Business School very highly. The classrooms and lecture halls are equipped with the latest technology, making the learning experience interactive and engaging. The comprehensive library resources, including a vast collection of books, journals, and online databases, have been incredibly useful for my research and studies.
Additionally, the dedicated study spaces, both quiet zones and collaborative areas, provide the perfect environment for group projects and individual study sessions. Access to specialised software and tools, such as Bloomberg and financial data base such as Fame, has given me hands-on experience with industry-standard tools, which is invaluable for my practical learning.
Have you ever taken part in academic mentoring? What has this role involved?
I took part in academic mentoring as a CERT student mentor in my second year at Nottingham Business School. The role primarily involves offering personalised advice on time management and balancing academic responsibilities with extracurricular activities, helping my first-year students to succeed both academically and personally. This experience not only allowed me to assist others but also significantly enhanced my communication and leadership skills.
Have you had the option to personalise your course? How has this benefitted your studies?
Yes, I have had the option to personalise my course at Nottingham Business School. This flexibility allowed me to choose elective modules that align with my interests and career aspirations in finance and business management. By selecting module such as International marketing, I was able to learn about different areas of business studies which has greatly enhanced my understanding and competence.
Can you tell us a bit about your placement?
I had the opportunity to complete a logistics and supply chain internship at Boots as part of the Grad4Nottm placement programme. During this internship, I conducted an in-depth analysis of the return process at the SSC and Burton warehouse, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency and reducing costs. My team's proposals received positive feedback from key stakeholders, with requests to implement our research and proposals, highlighting the impact and feasibility of our solutions. Additionally, my team was one of the top three winners of the Best Poster Award for innovative solutions and effective teamwork at the Grad4nottm exhibition. This internship significantly enhanced my practical skills and provided valuable experience in data analysis, strategic planning. Furthermore, help me developed my presentation and communication skills.
What do you think of the support available at NTU?
The support available at NTU has been exceptional, particularly the course staff. For instance, my seminar lecturer even replied to my emergency emails at 2 am. This level of commitment ensures that students receive timely guidance and assistance, fostering a conducive learning environment where academic success is prioritised and supported around the clock.
Additionally, the workshops, career fairs, and personalised advice from the employability team have been instrumental in shaping my career path and securing valuable internship opportunities. Their guidance has not only boosted my confidence but also prepared me effectively for the competitive job market after graduation.
Has the employability team helped you plan for life beyond NTU?
Yes, they have provided invaluable support through workshops, one-on-one consultations, and career fairs focused on enhancing employability skills such as CV writing, interview preparation, networking and assessment centres. Their guidance has been crucial in identifying internship opportunities that align with my career goals and preparing me for the competitive job market. The team's proactive approach and personalised advice have given me confidence in navigating my career path after NTU, ensuring that I am well-prepared for the next steps in my professional journey.
Do you have any advice for future students on how they can make the most of their time at NBS?
My advice is to actively engage in class discussions and seek out internship opportunities. Participating in class not only helps you understand the material better but also allows you to build relationships with lecturers and classmates, which can be invaluable throughout your academic journey. Do watch out for exciting job opportunities from the NTU employability team!
Why did you want to study in the UK?
Studying in the UK has been a key goal for me due to its renowned education system and universities offering courses aligned with my interests. The multicultural environment provides valuable opportunities to interact with diverse perspectives, enriching my learning experience. Additionally, earning a UK degree enhances my global career prospects with internationally recognised qualifications.
How is NTU for international students?
NTU is excellent for international students, offering a welcoming and supportive environment. The university provides dedicated support services tailored to international students' needs, including orientation programs, language support, and visa guidance. The multicultural campus community at NTU fosters inclusivity and cultural exchange, enriching the overall student experience. The Global Week is one of my favourite cultural events at NTU!
