More about Megan

Megan is a Graduate CRM Analyst at TUI, and studied BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance at Nottingham Business School.

What made you choose NTU and your course?

NTU immediately stood out to me because of its vibrant city‑campus feel. I loved that Nottingham offered an exciting city lifestyle while still having a strong sense of campus community. The Accounting and Finance course also appealed because of its clear structure and strong alignment with professional qualifications. For anyone considering continuing their studies alongside work, it provides a really solid foundation. I also valued the collaborative environment at Nottingham Business School, where you work closely with students across different courses and build strong connections.

Looking back, what do you value most from your time at Nottingham Business School?

The breadth of opportunities available, the variety and energy of the lectures, and the structured way the course content was delivered. Together, these helped me build confidence and clarity about my career direction.

Push yourself outside your comfort zone, even when it feels uncomfortable. Start small, whether that’s asking questions in lectures/seminars when you normally stay quiet or getting involved in something new like joining a society or sports. You’ll be surprised how much you grow both personally and professionally!

What was the most valuable part of your course for your future career?

The strong emphasis on employability. While university is an amazing experience socially and academically, I knew securing a graduate role would be competitive. Having access to a supportive employability team for CV reviews, interview preparation, and career advice made a huge difference. This, combined with lecturers who were engaging and made finance feel accessible and enjoyable, gave me confidence entering the job market.

Can you give one example of something you worked on that felt relevant to the real world?

Many modules focused on applying financial theory to real business scenarios, particularly through data analysis and problem‑solving tasks. These projects helped me understand how insights are used to support commercial decisions, which directly reflects the type of work I now do in analytics.

What is your current role, and what does a typical day involve?

I’m currently a Graduate CRM Analyst at TUI as part of the Analytics Data Science Graduate Programme, having previously worked as a Global E‑commerce Digital Analyst and a Price & Yield Solutions Data Scientist. A typical day involves analysing customer and campaign data, building dashboards using tools such as SQL, Tableau, and Excel, collaborating with marketing and product teams, and translating complex data into clear, actionable insights that improve customer experiences.

Which skills or experiences from NBS do you use most in your role today?

Analytical thinking, commercial awareness, and communication skills. My finance background helps me understand how insights link to revenue, performance, and wider business objectives, while my experience at NBS gave me the confidence to communicate insights clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.

What is one highlight of your career so far?

Working across multiple analytics teams at TUI and seeing how data‑led insights directly influence business strategy and customer personalisation has been a major highlight. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see the real‑world impact of my work.

If you could give one piece of advice to a future NBS student, what would it be?

Push yourself outside your comfort zone, even when it feels uncomfortable. Start small, whether that’s asking questions in lectures/seminars when you normally stay quiet or getting involved in something new like joining a society or sports. You’ll be surprised how much you grow both personally and professionally.

(It’s never too late to be a beginner!)

In one sentence, how was studying at NBS helped shape your career?

NBS gave me the mindset, skills and confidence to turn data into real‑world impact.

Who would you recommend your course to, and why?

I’d recommend this course to anyone looking to challenge themselves and build a strong understanding of finance. Even though I’ve followed a data and analytics career path, I use my finance knowledge every day, from understanding how my work drives revenue, to managing my own finances and budgeting. That confidence is empowering and stays with you long after graduation.
