What inspired you to choose FdA Business?

"Since first studying business at GCSE, I have enjoyed learning about how businesses work and function. Everyone interacts with at least one business every day. By understanding how a business works, I am able to gain a deeper insight into the world around me."

Can you tell me about any interests that made you choose Business?

"Since primary school, I have had a keen interest in maths. Business links well with this as all companies must make money to stay afloat!"

How is this course helping you achieve your personal or career goals?

"Despite studying a business course, I haven’t decided what I would like to do in the future. However, by choosing to study business, I feel that several options have been opened up to me including opening a business of my own."

Placement

Have you had the opportunity to complete a placement as part of your course?

"The business course also gives us an opportunity to complete a work experience placement. I spent time on placement in a local school, as well as at the Mansfield Hub, which has helped with my future goals.

Whilst on placement at NTU in Mansfield I was able to get involved in various different tasks - from marketing to admin. This gave me an insight into what happens behind the scenes on a day-to-day basis, helping me to think critically and logically about ideas."

What attracted you to study at the Mansfield Hub?

"When I was looking into where to study, I wanted to stay at home and remain local. The Mansfield Hub has allowed me to do this. In an area which has historically had low levels of people attending university, this degree will enable me to stand out to potential employers."

What makes NTU in Mansfield different?

"Mansfield is a smaller campus, which means that everyone knows each other. Studying at Mansfield is excellent as it is quieter than other sites which allows you to have conversations with different people that you might not get the opportunity to at other sites."

Could you share any experiences at the Mansfield Hub that have had an impact on you?

"Before I started at university, I was slightly worried about what my grades were going to be like. Receiving my first set of results was important for me as it gave me the confidence and belief that I could achieve excellent results at university."

What’s the best thing about being an NTU Mansfield student?

"Being a student at Mansfield allows you to get to know other students and staff really well. Building these relationships will be key when going into the world of work. In addition, we receive lots of support and feedback."
