Yes, however you can only benefit from the Alumni discount once, so you can use the discount on a research degree if you are progressing directly from an undergraduate degree or if you have completed your undergraduate degree at NTU and a Masters elsewhere. The Alumni discount cannot be used on at-distance PhDs.

If you graduated with a qualifying academic award* from NTU within the last 5 years, have met the conditions, and accepted your offer, the discount will automatically be applied at enrolment. The discount may be applied at any point up until the time you have fully enrolled and is not applied by a certain date in the year.

If you graduated with a qualifying academic award* from NTU before the 2018/19 academic cycle, have met the conditions, and accepted your offer, please send a copy of your graduation certificate and NTU ID number to ntu.scholarships@ntu.ac.uk, with the subject title  'Alumni discount' before you enrol on your new course.

*Qualifying academic awards include: All BA, BEng, BSc, LLB, BArch, PGDip, and PGCert. NTU reserves the right to ask for a copy of your degree certificate(s) to validate eligibility.

Yes, you can also apply for scholarships and other awards offered by the University. However, if you are successful and the scholarship or other award covers 50% or more of your tuition fees, you are not eligible for the Alumni discount.

If the scholarship or other award covers less than 50% of your tuition fees, and you are eligible for the Alumni discount, the discount will be applied to your tuition fee after the scholarship amount has been deducted.

If the funding from your employer or professional body covers 50% or more of your tuition fees, you are not eligible for the NTU Alumni discount.

If the funding covers less than 50% of your tuition fees, and you are eligible for the Alumni discount, the discount will be applied to your tuition fee after the funded amount has been deducted.

The Alumni discount will be applied once you accept and meet the conditions of your offer and are eligible to enrol on the course. This can happen at any point up until the time you have fully enrolled onto your course and is not applied by a certain date in the year.

The NTU Alumni discount is not transferable and may not be awarded if you choose to defer your entry to a different start date in a different academic year, or if you choose to transfer to a different course at NTU that is excluded from the discount.

Please contact us directly at ntu.scholarships@ntu.ac.uk, providing your name and NTU ID number.

Read the Alumni discount terms and conditions

If you're considering applying to NTU for postgraduate study and expect to receive the Alumni discount, make sure to read the full terms and conditions below.

  1. Students who have applied for a place on an eligible course that will be delivered on a modular basis must meet the above eligibility criteria and have graduated with an academic award* from NTU before enrolling on the first module of their course to be eligible for the Alumni discount. Where an eligible course is delivered on a modular basis, the discount applies to the entire course fee and is not available on a module-by-module basis.
  2. Students progressing to or from courses that are validated by, but not taught by NTU are not eligible for the Alumni discount, except for Confetti students.
  3. Students who are fully sponsored (tuition fees paid for in full) by their employers or a professional body are not eligible to receive the Alumni discount.
  4. Students who are partly sponsored and who meet the above eligibility criteria for the Alumni discount will have the discount applied to that part of the tuition fees which is not being paid for elsewhere.
  5. If you graduated with a qualifying academic award* from NTU prior to the 2018/19 academic year, please provide a copy of your graduation certificate once you have met the conditions and accepted your offer. Please email a copy of your graduation certificate with the subject line 'Alumni discount' and your NTU ID number to ntu.scholarships@ntu.ac.uk before you enrol on your new course.
  6. If you graduated with a qualifying academic award* from NTU within the last 5 years you do not need to apply for the discount or provide your degree certificate. Provided you are eligible, the discount will automatically be deducted from your fee before enrolment. Please note, the discount may be applied at any point up until the time you have fully enrolled onto your course and is not applied by a certain date in the year.
  7. If you have been allocated multiple NTU ID numbers throughout your study at NTU and you believe you are eligible for the Alumni discount, please contact the Scholarships team at ntu.scholarships@ntu.ac.uk providing your full name and confirmation of each NTU ID number.
  8. If you are eligible to receive the Alumni discount and are awarded a scholarship or bursary from NTU, the discount will be applied to your tuition fee after the scholarship amount has been deducted. The aggregate amount awarded will not exceed more than half the tuition fee.
  9. Students who have obtained a scholarship, bursary, or other fee reduction, which covers 50% or more of their fees, are not eligible for the Alumni discount on any remaining fee.
  10. The Alumni discount will only be applied once you accept and meet the conditions of your course offer and are eligible to enrol on the course.
  11. The Alumni discount is only available for students who have graduated from NTU with a qualifying academic award* and are progressing onto an eligible postgraduate taught, postgraduate research, or professional course** in accordance with the eligibility criteria. Students progressing from one master’s degree onto another master’s degree will not be eligible for the discount.
  12. Applicants due to enrol on a two-year full-time Masters course which incorporates a year-long work placement are eligible to receive the Alumni discount on their Year One tuition fee only.
  13. The Alumni discount is not transferable and may not be awarded if you choose to defer your entry to a different start date in a different academic year or if you choose to transfer to a different course at NTU which is not eligible for the discount.
  14. A student will only receive the benefit of the Alumni discount once, regardless of the amount applied. If a student successfully completes an eligible course which has received the discount and chooses to undertake another eligible course at NTU then the discount will not be applied again.
  15. Students are only eligible for the Alumni discount if they are due to enrol on the first year of their course starting between 1 September 2024 and 31 August 2025. Students repeating their first year of study are not eligible for the discount.
  16. If a student fails to complete an eligible course or withdraws from a course which has received the Alumni discount and chooses to retake part or all of the course or undertake another eligible course then the discount will not be applied again under any circumstances, regardless of the reason for not completing the course.
  17. If a student fails to complete an eligible course and the Alumni discount was not applied at any time before or during the course (i.e., the student did not enrol and did not pay the tuition fees, or where the tuition fees were reimbursed in full) then subject to the eligibility criteria, the discount may be available should the student choose to retake the course or undertake another eligible course.
  18. Should a student take an agreed, temporary leave of absence from their course, the Alumni discount will still be valid when they return to their course, provided the course or any year of that course is not started again from the beginning.
  19. Should a student withdraw from their course whilst owing a proportion of their tuition fees to NTU, application of the Alumni discount shall be at the discretion of NTU and the discount may be withdrawn.
  20. International students participating in a foreign exchange programme with NTU are not eligible for the Alumni discount.
  21. The Alumni discount for part-time students will be applied across each year of their course.
  22. The University’s decision in all matters relating to the Alumni discount is final.

*Eligible academic awards when completed in full and with NTU include: BA, BEng, BSc, LLB, BArch, PGDip, and PGCert.

**Please view the list of excluded courses in the FAQs above.
