University Hall Concerts – showcasing classical and global roots music

Student concerts

Throughout the year there are lots of opportunities to enjoy performances from our talented students and ensemble members. Drop in to one of our free lunchtime concerts or grab a ticket to watch our choir, chamber choir, concert band, brass ensemble, drumline or string sinfonia perform.

Venue information

University Hall has stalls and balcony seating. Some of the side stalls seating has interrupted views of the stage. Balcony side seats have a restricted view of the stage and are not cushioned. Please bear this in mind when booking tickets for events where seating is allocated.

Doors open 30 minutes before performances begin. As there is no foyer area in University Hall, doors to both the building and the auditorium will open at the same time.

There is level access to enter University Hall on Shakespeare Villas, and a lift providing access to all levels of the hall. All balcony seats are accessed by at least one step.

Wheelchair spaces are available at the front of the stalls and are usually side-facing to the stage.

We have three accessible toilets located on the lower ground, stalls and balcony levels.

If you require a companion to enable your visit and are a wheelchair user, you can book your ticket online. If you are not a wheelchair user but still require a companion, please contact us.

University Hall is just a few minutes' walk from the Nottingham Trent University tram stop, and a short distance from the city centre bus stops. We'd recommend using public transport. If you're planning to drive, or need a walking map, take a look at our parking and travel information.

Meet our professional music programmers

We're delighted to be working in partnership with Rastarella and Carmen Flores, who are programming our professional concerts this season.

Rastarella is the founder of Cultural Vibrations, promoting unity through live music and community-based cultural events, and the founder/coordinator of Nottingham Global Roots Festival – a free, family-friendly festival celebrating music and traditions from around the world.

A founding member of the Villiers Quartet and Principal Viola of the Royal Ballet Sinfonia (2007-2019), Carmen is Director of the Nottingham Chamber Music Festival (NCMF) which celebrates chamber music and the arts every summer at venues across the city.
