What we do
Learn more about what we do and how we aim to achieve our mission. If you want to work together this is the best place to start.
We value ideas
By maximising the impact of research. We bring together university researchers, communities and partners to understand and seek solutions to pressing issues. We commission and support the development of new research and practical action which has a meaningful impact on the city region.
We influence debate
Our team will monitor major local, national and international policy debates that affect places like Nottingham. We actively contribute to these debates by communicating our research, lobbying politicians and responding to campaigns, consultations, and inquiries.
We create opportunity
By becoming a premier forum for discussion and information sharing. We link NTU students and staff with wider communities through research scholarships, internships, and research projects addressing a community identified need.
How to get involved
Just ask
You can contact us for one-off enquiries or small pieces of work. Nottingham Civic Exchange will act as a gateway to colleagues within the university and across our broader networks so that we can always find an appropriate person for your query.
Partners and stakeholders
Nottingham Civic Exchange works with a range of local and national organisations. For example, our association with Fellows of the RSA, Nottingham Trent University alumni, collaborators on projects, and with those who wish to maintain a ‘critical friend’ relationship with us, are a valuable resource.
If you would like to talk to us about how to work with us in this way please get in touch.
Communities of practice
‘Communities of practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly’.
These groups are a self-sustaining collection of individuals who will continue to work on themes or projects of concern to them. Their focus will be to learn and to develop practice through their relationships with each other. Nottingham Civic Exchange aims to support a range of these groups which align with our work. This will form part of our strategic aims to ensure that NTU is a good neighbour to Nottingham’s residents and organisations.
Inspire and challenge group
This is a collection of people from across the city and region whose input we value. They will offer guidance, inspiration and challenge to the work of Nottingham Civic Exchange as it evolves. This group will come together twice a year for workshop sessions.
Advisory group
Our work is overseen by a group of key advisors from within Nottingham Trent University.
