Event details

In its 75th year, the UN is working with partners to initiate dialogues within and across borders, sectors and generations. The aim is to reach as many people as possible: to listen to their hopes and fears; learn from their experiences; and empower them to think and act globally.

At NTU we are engaging with the UN75 Dialogue under the theme of Living Securely, and asking the following questions:

What does it mean to live securely in the 21st Century? What factors adversely affect human security? And what would a secure future look like in practical terms?

Running over three days from Tuesday 24 November – Thursday 26 November 2020, the UN75 Conference hosted by NTU's Virtual Institute for Advanced Studies will attempt to understand the importance of security for the human condition and project key themes for a secure global future.

Each of the three days has a unifying theme which will be explored from a multidisciplinary perspective anchored in a number of NTU’s key research strengths:

  • Day One: Equality, Society & Human Rights
  • Day Two: Health for all: Health, Wellbeing & Access to Healthcare
  • Day Three: Sustainable Cultures
