Event details
In this lecture, Professor Skauradszun will demystify the role of the judge in a court of law through an examination of some of the roles played by decision-makers in the sporting arena.
We know, for example, that tennis umpires, football referees and ice-skating judges all perform their roles in very different ways. What can we learn from this about what it means to be a judge? To what extent is the work of a judge in sport similar to, or distinguishable from, the role of the judge in a court of law, and how can this inform our own understanding of the judiciary?
