What is the Female Athlete Development Program?
The SHAPE research centre and the Women in Sport theme of the Department of Sport Science at NTU are excited to launch the Female Athlete Development Program (FADP). The FADP aims to support female athletes on their trajectory towards high performance sport, whilst emphasising health and consistency to ensure longevity in their sporting endeavours. Through this initiative selected athletes, along with their coaches and support networks will receive educational workshops from our in house experts.
Being part of the FADP means you will be able to access all of the sport science services at NTU for free for the following 12 months, we will work closely with you and your team to help support you as you wish to ensure you progress and word towards achieving your performance goals in the future, whilst continually maintaining health. Some examples where we may be able to help would be; nutrition, menstrual cycle management, sleep, heat/altitude preparation, performance and biomechanics testing.
Our program will launch with an in person education day on 1st March. To be eligible for the program you must be aged between 13 and 30 years old and not currently on any funding/support from your national governing body. As part of the FADP you will also receive £300 to cover travel for you and coaches/parents/family to attend NTU event days in addition to £50 sports shop gift voucher and other items of sports kit and nutrition products.
