Join NTU Confetti and Mammoth – A Climate Action Cinema as we host a screening of Overheated, a documentary directed by Yassa Khan that tackles one of the most urgent issues of our time: the climate crisis. Featuring Billie Eilish and a diverse group of voices, Overheated offers a "striking look at the fragile state of our planet and the fight for its future."
The film features insights from activists like Vanessa Nakate, Samata, and prominent figures such as Vivienne Westwood. Focusing on Indigenous communities, including the Waorani Tribe from the Amazon Rainforest and the Sámi people of Sápmi, Overheated emphasizes how these groups are disproportionately affected by the climate crisis. Yet, they remain at the forefront of the fight to protect our planet. As Billie Eilish asks in the opening moments of the film, “Are we doing enough?”
Following the film, Patrick Hort from Mammoth - A Climate Action Cinema will chair discussion with NTU academics and colleagues whose work explores climate science, policy and justice and sustainability within the creative industry.
On the panel will be:
Jacqeuline Kirk: Dr Jacqueline Kirk is an Associate Professor of Sustainable Business in the Responsible and Sustainable Business (RSB) Lab in the Department of Management. Jacqueline specialises in CSR, ESG and narratives of value in decision making. She is particularly interested in the interface between these constructs and a just transition to net zero.

She is part of the technical team for the NTU Waverley Dye Garden an organic, chemical-free and self-sustained area for growing plants which is utilised to make natural and sustainable dyes for student projects and teaching.
Laurence Teillet: Laurence is an Hourly Paid Lecturer at Nottingham Law School, where she teaches various topics in Public International Law. She is also a PhD candidate at the Centre for Rights and Justice, researching the definition of piracy under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and its intersection with environmental activism.
