In this inaugural lecture, Professor David Daley will take a look back at key studies and publications from his academic career to date. The focus will be on some of the successes and pitfalls of developing interventions for ADHD. Some of the key studies that have highlighted intervention efficacy and others where the evidence has been less clear and helpful.

In this inaugural lecture Professor David Daley will take a look back at key studies and publications from his academic career to date. The focus will be on some of the successes and pitfalls of developing interventions for ADHD. Some of the key studies that have highlighted intervention efficacy and others where the evidence has been less clear and helpful. Finally the importance of implementation and the challenges of promoting implementation even in the presence of helpful research findings will be discussed. This is what has ultimately enhanced Professor Daley’s passion for knowledge exchange and why he choose to reflect knowledge exchange in his professorial title.

Biography

David is  Professor of Psychological Intervention & Knowledge Exchange and Head of Applied Psychological Practice at Nottingham Trent University, UK.  David is also a member of NHS England’s Experts in Evidence ADHD taskforce, a member of the European Network on Hyperkinetic Disorders EUNETHYDIS,  ADHD Guidelines Group, scientific advisor to App development company Assembly and Director of NTU SHIELD, a psychological coaching service run by NTU Psychology students for adolescents who are struggling to find meaning and value in their education.

David’s research interests are focused on non-shared environmental influences on child and adolescent development within the context of neurodiversity. In particular, he has devoted much of his career to the study of factors that enhance and interfere with the effective and enjoyable parenting of children with ADHD. David lives in Burton Joyce in Nottinghamshire with his wife Becky who is primary school teacher, two grown up children Tilly and Seb, three cats and a pet snake!
