Manifestos for Women - Providing a political platform to debate the future direction of Nottingham

    Nottingham Civic Exchange

    Workshops

    29 April 2019

    5 pm - 7.30 pm

The Department of Politics and International Relations at NTU, Nottingham Women’s Centre and Nottingham Civic Exchange have joined together to hold a panel debate with prospective political candidates and leaders. Following the publication of the Women’s Centre’s Manifesto which was supported by academic and student input, the team wanted to provide a space to invite political candidates to debate the issues and share their ideas for the future direction of Nottingham. This event will explore: the issues Nottingham women are facing, the political solutions proposed by local parties and the Women’s Centre, and how can civil society encourage positive changes through local campaigning, political engagement and community organising. Audience members are encouraged to bring their questions for the panel.

How can public policy improve economic security for Ordinary Working Families? The RSA launch their first report on economic insecurity at Nottingham Trent University.  Working with Nottingham Civic Exchange, the RSA’s new report, Addressing Economic Insecurity through Public Policy, looks at global trends and recent UK policy through the lens of economic insecurity. Drawing on new data collected by the RSA and analysis by Nottingham Civic Exchange, the report suggests a series of evaluative questions that policymakers should consider in designing policy.
