    Professor Steven King Inaugural Lecture

The welfare state: present, past and (?) future

    Networking | Public lectures

    31 January 2023

    5.30 pm - 7.30 pm

This lecture draws on the lessons of Professor King's multi-book project linking history and policy across the entire duration of the British welfare state (1601-2023). It explores the historical roots of welfare dilemmas that are currently constructed in presentist terms and asks what lessons history might hold for the future (if there is one) of the British welfare system.
