Open to all 11-24 year olds living, working or studying in Nottingham, the annual Young Creative Awards (YCAs) celebrate the incredible emerging talent in our city.

Providing a platform for your work to be seen by industry professionals and the general public, there’s 11 different categories to choose from.

  • Animation & Digital Media
  • Creative Writing
  • Dance
  • Design & Architecture
  • Fashion & Textiles
  • Film
  • Graphic Design
  • Music
  • Photography
  • Theatre
  • Visual Arts

You can submit new or existing work – and you don’t have to be studying a creative course to apply. So whether you’re a budding writer, artist, animator, designer, filmmaker, musician, dancer, actor or photographer, make sure you get involved!

NTU students have enjoyed continued success at the YCAs in previous years. In 2020 five NTU students were named winners in their categories, including Em Green (Animation & Digital Media), Jonathan Rumball (Design & Architecture), Isabel Hambly and Jiahan Zhuang (Fashion & Textiles), and Anna Page (Visual Arts).

Em told us, “I was elated when I won! It was also a really special moment to see my animation on Notts TV during the Young Creative Awards celebration programme. I felt so proud.”

Other winners of the YCAs include successful musicians Rob Green and Philip George, writer and performer Bridie Squires, embroidery designer Liss Cooke, acclaimed dancer Jamal Sterrett, social media star R-J Tulloch, and published author Rebecca Constable.

The deadline to apply for this year’s awards is Wednesday 21 April. Visit the Young Creative Awards website to find out more and submit your entry.
