NTU confirmed as the first university in the UK to lead a men's netball club

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is the first University in the UK to join the Men’s National League tournament, working in collaboration with England Men's & Mixed Netball Association.

Netball has continued to grow in popularity as a performance sport and NTU is excited not only to launch the first University led Men’s East Midlands team, but also host the National Men’s and mixed Tournament at our Clifton Campus this August.

Based at the university’s Clifton campus, the club is open to men of all ages based in the East Midlands, not just NTU students and staff.

NTU’s Head of Netball, Louise Hopkin is behind the launch. She said, “Everyone at NTU Sport is extremely excited to be bringing men’s netball to the East Midlands. We are fully committed to the development of the men’s game and have lots of plans to increase participation moving forward. Right now we cannot wait to get going and welcome new faces through our doors.”

NTU Sport is kicking off recruitment with a welcome event taking place at the Clifton Sports Hub. Anyone interested in trying out men’s netball is invited to come along and see what men’s netball is all about. You will be invited to take part in a friendly match and learn some skills, as well as meet the coach and other staff behind the team at NTU Sport.

The Welcome event is on Saturday 29 May beginning at 10am. For more information and to register your interest, pleas sign up for further details.

Training with the team will begin soon after, with regular Saturday morning training sessions from 10:00 am - 11.30 am, ahead of the National Tournament commencing in August.
