Over the last year many businesses have struggled to survive due to the pandemic, it has changed the way in which we work. This project was designed around combining two brands together, Soul & Flare and Waste Nott, that have been heavily affected by Covid-19, and adapt them for a post-Covid environment. In the Loop allows collaboration of these two brand whilst simultaneously reaching to reduce waste and consumption of single use, unsustainable products.

The store is designed so that everything that enters can be recycled within the building. Certain food waste can be made into new fabrics which can then be transformed into new garments that are sold in the retail space. Non-recyclable food waste is composted and used on the roof garden to grow fruit and vegetables which are sold in the store. Plastic waste can also be brought into the unit to be melted down into filament for 3D printers to create new components such as zips and buttons which will be used in Soul & Flares haberdashery. The city centre site, 31 Goose Gate, allowed the brands to form a hub like space for students and young people to practice sustainable living.
