Daniel King is named in the Charity Times as a top 20 Pandemic Pioneer

Nottingham Business School are delighted to announce that Professor Daniel King has been recognised as a Pandemic Pioneer through his work on 'Respond, recover, reset: the voluntary sector and COVID-19'.

    The pandemic caused huge disruption on the nonprofit sector, but again it, like so many others, the sector rose to the occasion. Leaders all around the country developed, devised new answers to questions, and completely altered the charity sector as we knew it. Nottingham Business School are delighted to announce that Daniel King's outstanding work in the charity sector has been recognised and he has been named a 'Pandemic Pioneer' in The Charity Times.

    Daniel King has spent his time during the pandemic examining Covid-19’s impact on voluntary, community and social (VCSE) organisations, compiling reports on how the sector has responded to the challenges the last 18 months have brought. This project has been in collaboration with Nottingham Trent University, Sheffield Hallam University, NCVO and the Economic and the Social Research Council.

    This project examines COVID-19 impact on voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations. In particular, it focuses on providing real-time data about how the pandemic is impacting voluntary organisations working-practices and operations, their responses, learning and resilience. The aim has been to collect data and insights on lessons learned, and to help organisations in using lessons to improve recovery in both the near and long-term future.

    I am delighted to be named a pandemic pioneer by the Charity Times. Our research has explored the impact of Covid-19 on the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector and has shown the importance of good, timely data to inform decisions in policy and practice. We have a great team at NTU, working with Sheffield Hallam University and NCVO, creating academic research that is relevant to practice.
