NTU Student wins DFA Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award

NTU student Mellissa Chan is among those who have won this year’s DFA Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award.

NTU student Mellissa Chan is among those who have won this year’s DFA Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award.

The DFA Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award nurtures the development of emerging designers and provides sponsorship for them to gain overseas experience.

Since 2006 NTU has delivered a one year top-up course at Hong Kong Design Institute (HDKI) in Hong Kong in BA (Hons) Fashion Design and BA (Hons) International Fashion Business. Students study a 2-year Higher Diploma at HKDI and then get the opportunity to progress to study a 1-year top-up degree studied in Hong Kong is delivered by both staffs at HKDI and NTU.

We spoke to Melissa Chan who is currently studying on the BA (Hons) Fashion Design. Melissa said:

“Garments can be problem-solving - they can offer protection and comfort for people with injuries, helping them both physically and emotionally. I want to explore more possibilities with fashion design.”
