Five second year Textile Design students have secured industry placements with Next after winning a live brief set by Next Menswear. The project provided the students with the opportunity to work on industry-led briefs to develop their understanding of designing for a market and gain a deeper technical understanding of their specialism.

Students chose between different briefs offered by three industry specialists: Sanderson, Dulux, and Next (Menswear). Students with different specialisms (print, embroidery, and weave) were then allocated into teams so they could combine and collaborate across disciplines.

In response to the brief, each team developed creative and innovative concepts to develop their understanding of market research; trends; contextual research; design responsibility; designing appropriately for a market, and effective design communication and presentation.

A big congratulations to Team 14 Katie Haynes, Bea Watson, Anna Reed, Liv Endress-Roberts who won with their two collections ‘Psychedelic Dream' And 'Brutalist". They have all secured a placement at Next Menswear., Student Chaeyeon Kang also received a placement from a separate group for their outstanding work. Well done!
