Shed on the Allotment by Vladimir Caraso

BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design

In the time of COVID - 19 affecting the world, a mass amount of people was not able to leave their homes, therefore have not been able to socialise and interact with others. From researching St. Ann’s Allotment and Cobden Chambers, they both carry an ethos of functioning as a community-based environment. St Ann’s being a collective group of people benefiting from independent work with nature and Cobden Chambers being a space that shares creative independent businesses.

This has led me in to servicing a coffee workshop that connects existing and new users with nature, while also befitting the functionality of the community of this site. Socialising and interacting with others are detrimental part into growing a community. Creating a space that embodies and captures the appeal of owning an allotment and being a part of a growing and exiting community.

Vladimir Caraso, creator, said: “The purpose of this project was to ensure a strong and existing community continues to grow and give opportunities of access to outdoor spaces for new people to reconnect with nature. It was important to me that new and diverse spaces are offered, in order to create an exciting experience for a variety of community-based activities.”
