Equine students run a charity dressage event in aid of British Equestrians for Ukraine

The year two equine students have put their event management skills into practice for a great cause, raising almost £900 for charity. With some guidance from their lecturers, students planned a hugely successful dressage event, raising money to help horses and their owners caught up in the crisis in Ukraine.

The students took part in the organisation of the event from advertisement, selecting classes, organising job roles, contacting catering companies and sponsors for both the class prizes and the tombola, to the set up on the day.

The event attracted 59 entries which involved four classes and the winners’ prizes were provided by the sponsors.

Attendees could also participate in the tombola and treat themselves to goodies from the cake stall.

We thoroughly enjoyed the day, it was our first event that we had planned to the public, the university were very supportive along with all of the sponsors and judges, we could not have done this without them. The weather was great and the arena was harrowed and ready for the competitors on the Friday. The competitors were great, and many people mentioned to us about how well the day was run and how happy they were with the event. There was plenty of fun to be had inside as well as in the main arena with the tombola and the cake sale which ended up moving outside due to the good weather.
