Formerly held at the more local Southwell Minster, NTU made the decision to move the college course ceremonies to the now owned and refurbished University Hall on Shakespeare Street.

Starting with the first event of its kind since 2019, Wednesday’s ceremony welcomed and awarded over 70 Level 2 and 3 BTEC qualifications.

The event, laid out in a similar manner to a traditional graduation ceremony, featured noted members of the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences – Executive Dean, Professor Dawn Scott and Deputy Dean, Professor Iain Barber – as well as the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Edward Peck, who is also a champion of the local agricultural and countryside industry in his role as President of the Nottingham County Show.

The ceremony also featured a vote of thanks speech, presented by Level 3 Animal Management completer, Lily Tyler, as well as refreshments and celebrations post-ceremony.

Echoing the words of Professor Edward Peck’s Vice Chancellor’s congratulations in the event programme, Brackenhurst: “would like to congratulate all our students on their awards. [We] would also like to thank you — their family and friends — for joining us on this very special occasion.

“The Brackenhurst experience has paved the way for many exciting and productive futures: some students have progressed into degree-level education with the University, while others have moved quickly into related employment. [We] anticipate similar successes for all of you, knowing how hard you have worked to develop yourselves.”
