Marvin Cooke, Executive Vice President for Manufacturing at Toyota Motor Europe, to deliver live event as part of Nottingham Business School’s Business Leaders Lecture Series

Marvin will discuss Toyota’s shift toward a ‘Mobility Company’ in response to major change in the automotive industry

Marvin Cooke

The automotive industry is going through a once-in-a-century period of profound transformation. In response, Toyota has declared a shift toward a 'Mobility Company' with the aim of contributing to the improvement of society through its cars and services. But with a host of factors threating disruption, how is the automobile giant approaching this goal?

Hear from Marvin Cooke, Executive Vice President for Manufacturing at Toyota Motor Europe, as he delivers: ‘Once in a century transformation whilst managing disruption’. Founded in 1937, Toyota is one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world, producing around 10 million vehicles per year. More recently, the business declared its intention to become a 'Mobility Company’ with a mission to deliver ever better, sustainable mobility for all and contribute to a brighter future. Rather than only sell cars, Toyota is changing its business model to provide various services in which vehicles are incorporated into a system and focus more broadly and openly on contributing to the improvement of society.

Marvin oversees all Toyota’s European Manufacturing Companies, Logistics, Toyota Production System and Production Control functions. He joined Toyota Manufacturing UK as a Manufacturing Engineer in 1991 and held numerous management posts within all vehicle manufacturing areas progressing to Director of Production Operations in 2008.

Marvin spent a year as Director of Production Engineering at Toyota Motor Europe in Brussels during 2011 and returned to Toyota Manufacturing UK as Deputy Managing Director of Vehicle Manufacturing in January 2012. He went on to spend 2 and a half years as Production Vice President at Toyota, Peugeot, Citroen Automobile in Czech Republic and returned to Toyota Manufacturing UK in 2017 as Managing Director.

As of 2021, Marvin was promoted to his current position as Executive Vice President of Manufacturing. Marvin is also NTU alumni having graduated with an honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Our Business Leaders Lectures are free to attend and open to students, alumni, colleagues and professionals. The event takes place on Tuesday 11 October 2022, between 5.30 pm – 7 pm in Lecture Theatre 4 of the Newton Building.
