'The Correction Unit' receives its first trailer

Journalism alumni and Confetti students are involved in producing a new film - The Correction Unit

Creatives from Confetti and the School of Arts and Humanities film The Correction Unit

Alumni from the School of Arts and Humanities have been involved in the production of a Nottingham-based independent feature film. The film is being produced entirely by Nottingham creatives, including a collection of Confetti and Centre for Broadcast Journalism alumni.

Shot with the support of current Confetti students, the new sci-fi thriller, ‘The Correction Unit’, is set in the near future of a dystopian Britain and explores themes of disillusionment, morality, free will and the role of artificial intelligence in education.

Over the last three years, there has been a 21% increase in knife crime and violence against young people aged 10 - 17 in the UK. The Correction Unit was written to explore what responsibility online media has for this increase in violence and how a future that is heavily reliant on AI will affect young people.

A large number of the young actors involved in the film were street cast and have been affected directly or indirectly by gang violence and crime. Working on the film has allowed them to share and explore their lived experiences.

A Greenlit campaign has been set up to help the team raise £10,000 in completion funds.
