The Voice of Rebellion
Nottingham Trent University’s Fashion, Textiles and Knitwear talents took centre stage at the prestigious Shanghai exhibition – SPINEXPO. SPINEXPO is the leading international industry-sourcing exhibition in yarns, fibres, and knitwear. SPINEXPO sponsored the project and invited NTU to showcase at the show with NTU being the only UK university at the exhibition.

SPINEXPO is the leading international industry-sourcing exhibition in yarns, fibres, and knitwear. SPINEXPO sponsored the project and invited NTU to showcase at the show with NTU being the only UK university at the exhibition.
This incredible opportunity derived from ‘The Voice of a Rebellion’ project. The students design ideas for ‘The Voice of Rebellion’ features a diverse range of creativity and technical applications for fabric and garment design. The students explored various knitting techniques, fine gauge fabrics, power knit jacquards and transfer lace using yarns to create the collection.
Collaborations between Fashion Design and Textile design students allowed the students to create innovative fabrics and silhouettes for the concepts Autograph, Advocacy, Second Life and Challenge.

Funding for an innovative new research project that will help universities integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their art and design education programmes has recently been secured by the Nottingham School of Art & Design, in partnership with Chelsea College of Arts (University of the Arts London), Liberty Fabrics, and Norwich University of the Arts.
