Systems Thinking and Collective Impact

NTU brings Civic and Community partners together to understand and address specific local needs, enhancing health, well-being, and educational outcomes. Our ambition is to work together to build stronger, more resilient communities through long-term, cross-sector initiatives.

Why are we doing Systems Thinking and Collective Impact?

We are driven to enrich society and deliver positive change within our local communities. We recognise that we cannot deliver sustainable change by working alone, and that innovation and learning are key to producing deeper impact. Systems Thinking and Collective Impact give us a guiding framework to deliver on those aims by leveraging our convening power as a civic institution and working alongside partners to deliver lasting benefits for communities.

These innovative approaches are showing promising outcomes and wide-ranging impacts so far. We are excited to share the progress being made in tackling systemic problems by addressing their root causes.

Find out more about our approaches below.

Systems Thinking

Systems Thinking draws on a broad range of perspectives to better understand complex social challenges. The process allows new insights to emerge and enables the root causes of persistent problems to be identified and addressed.

Collective Impact

Collective Impact provides a framework for cross-sector partnership working. Partners agree a plan to address the root causes of persistent problems and collaborate around a common agenda, a shared measurement system, a commitment to delivering mutually reinforcing activities and ‘backbone’ support.
