NTU Navigate

NTU Navigate aims to provide language support, cultural navigation and inspiration to refugees and asylum seekers in the local community.

What is NTU Navigate?

Navigate participants

Navigate is NTU’s outreach programme for young people from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds. It was designed in partnership with local community organisations to support sanctuary students at different stages of their educational journey.

NTU Navigate offers:

  • Guidance and advice on the UK higher education system and sources of financial support.
  • One-to-one application support on request.
  • A summer school for 16-19 year olds, including English-language support, campus tours, and academic taster sessions.
  • School or local community organisation facing sessions to explain student finance options and higher education pathways.
  • Ad-hoc events tailored to group needs and delivered with community partners.

University of Sanctuary – Welcoming sanctuary seekers across NTU and Nottingham

NTU has a proud tradition of providing a place of support, safety and inclusion for academics and young people from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds.

In partnership with the University of Nottingham, we've been awarded University of Sanctuary status. This award recognises our long track record and focus on supporting those seeking sanctuary through outreach, research, training, and educational opportunities.

Our universities work together to promote sanctuary and support those who are threatened or displaced by conflict or persecution. We're the first institutions in the country to put in a joint application for the University of Sanctuary under the pioneering Universities for Nottingham Project.
