University of Sanctuary: Welcoming sanctuary seekers across NTU and Nottingham
NTU has a proud tradition of providing a place of support, safety and inclusion for academics and young people from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds. We are committed to providing a welcoming space for all sanctuary seekers in and around the NTU community.
We are currently working with colleagues at the University of Nottingham to develop a shared bid for University of Sanctuary status as part of the Universities for Nottingham Civic Agreement. This bid draws upon and evidences our long track-record and focus on supporting those seeking sanctuary through outreach, research, training, and educational opportunity. It will recognise our long-standing commitment to promoting a culture of welcome, safety and inclusion across our campuses and their wider communities, and will contribute to the City of Nottingham’s bid to be recognised as part of the UK’s City of Sanctuary initiative to ensure our nation is a welcoming place of safety for all.
