Our Learning Advocates scheme is designed help pupils in primary schools by supporting them with attainment, character development, and increasing their awareness about the benefits of higher education.

How Learning Advocates support classroom learning

Campus visit primary

Our students work 1:1 with pupils and are positive role models from a University setting. Carefully selected from Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham students and trained and prepared for their role. Students will complete a placement of up to 70 hours.

Primary Learning Advocates support attainment raising in primary schools by assisting with small group learning or providing 1:1 support to targeted pupils who are falling behind in their expected level for literacy for their age. Our students follow the guidance of teachers in the classroom and they inspire, motivate and support pupils in their learning.

The scheme is free to all schools, and schools will receive ongoing support and final project evaluations which can feed into your school improvement plan.

The Learning Advocates that I have worked with have been professional, supportive and extremely positive role models. They have given freely of their time, no task is too much and they are always cheerful and happy to help. Thank you for this - it means a lot to be able to rely on them in this capacity.
