Apprenticeships at The Campbell Clinic Group

In this article, Colin Campbell, Chairman of The Campbell Clinic Group, discusses how apprentices studying for the Level 6 Digital Marketer Degree have benefitted their business.

Why did your company choose to offer apprenticeships?

It seemed like a modern, agile, and effective way to help our team learn the skills required for working in a digital environment. Particularly in the space of digital marketing, it is a wonderful way to learn the principles and important aspects of digital marketing whilst actually working within that area.

This gives you something entirely different to a conventional degree, where you learn the subject matter but not with any significant experience before heading out into the world of work. Our young candidates have benefitted massively from being able to work (and be paid) while obtaining a degree. We felt this was the best way to approach things.

When did you start implementing apprenticeships?

We started implementing apprenticeships four years ago.

What impact have apprentices had on your business?

The apprentices are having a massive impact on our business. Our first modern degree apprenticeship candidate, Tom Reason, has become the Marketing Director of The Campbell Clinic group. He was studying for his second degree as his digital apprenticeship but will tell everyone how much he learned and how much he has grown as a marketing professional through the benefits of the degree. We have two further candidates: one in final year and one in first year, both immediately benefitting from the overall learning experience.

How has the partnership with NTU enhanced your apprenticeship programme?

The partnership with NTU is fundamental to the apprenticeship programme to bring young marketing professionals along.

We are constantly looking at new ways to use the apprenticeship programme to the benefit of both us and the apprentices.

Would you recommend apprenticeships to other businesses?

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Level 6 Digital Marketer Degree Apprenticeship at NTU to any business who is progressive and proactive in developing their staff.

What stands out about NTU's apprenticeship provision?

Quality of education and the engagement of the individuals on the course. We have had an excellent experience with NTU and would encourage all businesses to become involved.
