Introduction:
Course dates:
3 - 24 June 2025, Tuesdays 6 - 8.30 pm
This course is designed to expand your existing skills in drawing, painting or illustration through an introduction to the art of collage.
It will take you on a developmental journey from drawing with paper, through simple collage printmaking methods, and assemblage.
Since its emergence as an art form in the early 20th century, collage has continued to serve not only as a primary form of expression, but also as a principle means of developing new creative responses.
This course will therefore include some theory and discussions regarding the importance of collage and the work by artists such as Hannah Höch and Richard Hamilton, as well as practical collage assignments.
-
You’ll be part of a design community in our creative studio culture; one that promotes discussion and collaboration, and encourages experimentation and the constant swapping of ideas.
-
With a limited class size of 11 people you'll have the one-to-one attention you need to ensure you leave with the skills to continue developing your designs at home or work.
-
Benefit from learning with an experienced tutor who has established links to the profession and significant experience working in varied practices.
-
On successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate of attendance.
Here's what our previous attendees said:
"The tutor was very knowledgeable, friendly and happy to help with all of our requests!"
"Excellent course - would love to attend again. There were prompts but also freedom within to do your own projects."
"Craig is a great tutor - just the right combination of hands on and hands off. I enjoyed watching other students make collages too and chatting with them and the tutor about progressing my work."
"Loved it! Excellent course! Enjoyed being with others to talk about collage."
"This course was exceptional. I know I have learned a lot. It was down to earth, practical teaching that was empowering and inspiring - great project ideas and feedback I can use from now onwards."
