This course will be conducted in NTU Clifton Campus.
Enter the world of crime scene investigation and forensics through use of our crime scene training facility and work with experts in a variety of fields involved in forensic investigation.
This course will provide you with an understanding of crime scene processing and recovery of evidence. It will also provide the opportunity to look at evidence types and gain hands on experience of processing evidence through to completing a statement of witness and presenting evidence to a panel of experts.
In this module, you will:
- Be introduced to the role of the Crime Scene Examiner (CSE).
- Discover the best practice for crime scene processing.
- Look at the role of the Forensic Scientist from the evidence recovered.
- Undertake laboratory examination of evidence using industrial based equipment to determine if links can be established. between crime scene, suspects and alleged activities.
- Be examined by your peers in a mock evidence review panel.
After studying on this course, you should be able to:
- Recognise the interdisciplinary nature of forensic investigations.
- Inspect and interpret a range of evidence types.
- Develop an understanding of the principles of forensic science.
- Communicate laboratory and crime scene findings in a clear and concise manner.
Assessment: Students will produce a portfolio which will include a crime scene report, general examination record, statement of witness and reflection on the examination of evidence by peers.
This course is ideal for university level STEM students and those studying on psychology and/or criminology degrees.
