Lifestyle flats

We offer a range of flats designed to suit the lifestyle of our students – whether that's living in a single-gender setting, finding a quiet flat, or sharing with other people studying on similar courses.

Choosing flats that suit your lifestyle

Our intention is for student flats to be a welcoming and inclusive experience for everyone.

They're a vibrant and exciting place where you will meet a range of people from across the University. With that in mind, we've created accommodation to cater to different lifestyle options, as we know some students might be interested in a tailored living situation.

You can choose from quiet living, single-gender, course-specific, and mature first-year undergraduate flats. These are available across a broad range of our halls of residence, and provide students with an opportunity to book a room in a flat with like-minded students.

Lifestyle preferences can be opted into during the application process via the accommodation portal.

Find out more about the accommodation types we offer:

Quiet flats are available across the majority of our halls – a fantastic option for students looking for a calm and peaceful living environment.

Students in quiet flats will be asked to sign an additional agreement that states they will commit to a ‘quieter living’ lifestyle, with a commitment to not making excessive noise within the flat between 11 pm-7 am. This applies to the student and any visitors.

Unfortunately, Studios are not classified as being 'Quiet' as part of the booking system, so if you would like to book a studio room, you will need to avoid selecting Quiet as a lifestyle option on your application.

We offer rooms in single-gender flats in most of our halls for students. These are for students who wish to live with others who share their self-identified gender. We welcome trans and non-binary students and will work with you to ensure your accommodation meets your needs.

If you have specific requirements or would like to discuss options, please contact our accommodation team.

Students may have visitors of all genders.

Health, Allied Professions and Teaching flats are available to book at both Peverell and New Hall.

This preference can be opted into by students that wish to live with other Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Paramedicine and Teaching students. If you would prefer to stay in halls with students from other courses, you can choose not to opt in.

This is available for both undergraduate and postgraduate students at any age.

Mature first-year undergraduates have a selection of flats available to book across our portfolio of halls.

This isn't something you will need to opt into, as the accommodation portal will know your age and level of study, automatically showing you the flats we have made available for mature first-year undergraduates.

If your preferred hall/room type is not available to book, we will allow mature first years to live with postgraduate and returning students (which will give students a wider choice of accommodation options).

Please get in touch and let us know if you would like us to help you book with postgraduate and returning students.
