Graduation ceremonies postponed until 2021

Celebrating your success is a highlight in our NTU calendar and we know just how important it is to you and those close to you.

Informed by Government guidelines, we have done a huge amount of work to consider how we can facilitate socially distanced ceremonies.

It has become clear however that some level of social distancing will still be in place until the end of the year, and we have come to the difficult conclusion that going ahead with ceremonies this year would mean too many compromises to the experience for our graduates. Such an event would not give you the opportunity to celebrate your achievements as you deserve, with friends and those close to you.

Therefore, following our previous decision to postpone 2020’s summer graduation ceremonies, NTU has reluctantly taken the decision to postpone all 2020 graduation ceremonies until 2021.

We understand you may be disappointed - we share in this disappointment with you, but the safety and wellbeing of our NTU community, as well providing you with the best graduation ceremony possible, has to be paramount.

When will the ceremonies take place?

Once we have a new date for your graduation ceremony we will let you know using the contact details we currently have. You can update your details on our website.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will I receive a new invitation when the ceremony has been rescheduled?

    Once the details of the rescheduled ceremonies have been finalised, you will receive a new invitation via email. This will be sent to your preferred and University email address on record. Please ensure your contact details are up to date.

  • Can I reserve additional tickets?

    When you are invited to register for the rescheduled ceremonies you will have the opportunity to reserve up to two guest tickets. We cannot guarantee that additional tickets beyond this will become available. We are unable to advise on availability at this time.

  • I have already paid for gown hire/photography, how can I get a refund/transfer my order?

    Our gowning suppliers and photographers have agreed that if you already booked and paid through them, you can either carry over your current booking or get a refund.

  • When will I receive my certificate?

    Certificates for July 2020 students were posted on 10 September, to the permanent home address we had on record on 31 July. Certificates posted to UK addresses have been sent via 2nd class mail and certificates to overseas addresses have been posted via DHL courier service. Please be aware that certificates posted to overseas addresses may take up to four weeks to arrive.


    Certificates for students who would have graduated at the December 2020 ceremonies will be posted in December. Please ensure your permanent home address (where your certificate will be delivered to) is up to date by no later than 31 October. If you need confirmation of your degree before then, you can order a verification letter after you have received your exam results.

Graduate Outcomes survey - and how NTU is still here to support you

The Graduate Outcomes survey is a national survey sent to all graduates 15 months after they finish a Higher Education course. It’s the biggest annual social survey in the UK and captures information about your experiences and your current status.

Why complete the survey?

Your valuable response adds to the collective voice of graduates and the results will give current and future students an insight into career destinations and development. Investing a few minutes of your time will help to inspire future students.

How does it work?

The Graduate Outcomes survey is delivered by HESA on behalf NTU.
You can complete the survey on most devices and it only takes around 10 minutes.

You’ll be contacted by either:

  • Email: The survey will be emailed to you from ntu@graduateoutcomes.ac.uk. These emails will contain a link to the online survey.
  • Text messages: You will receive text reminders from ‘GradOutcomes’. These texts will contain a link to the online survey.
  • Phone: If you receive a phone call regarding the survey, it will be from IFF Research. It has been appointed to capture survey responses by phone. They will introduce themselves as calling on behalf of NTU.
