Supporting publications

Please see the Publications Strategy and Publication Good Practice Guidelines: Standard Outputs for information on publication.

Once an output is published, please visit PubSub to record your output so it will be available on NTU's Institutional (IRep), which is an open-access database that contains information about research projects and publications that NTU staff are working on. PubSub is easy to use and the guidelines provide information on how to use it, and how to access it off-campus. If you have any questions please contact your Research Support Librarian.

Research Councils UK Funded Research and Open Access

Our guide on open access and funded research provides information on the RCUK Policy on Open Access and the NTU open-access fund. You should aim to complete the NTU open access fund form before submitting your paper to a journal.

Following consultation with your Research Support Librarian, you will then need to submit the form to your School Research Committee. The NTU Open Access Publishing Process Flowchart may assist you when considering how to make your work open access.

Research Councils UK Research Outcomes

The Research Councils are now using a single, harmonised system called Researchfish for the collection of information on the outcomes of Research Council-funded research. New users of Researchfish need to register to use the system – these will primarily be any staff at NTU who have been funded by AHRC, BBSRC, EPSRC, ESRC, or NERC, and who previously used a system called ROS (Research Outcomes System).

Grant holders can enter information into Researchfish at any time, and continue to do so even after their grant has ended. The Research Councils are now following, however, a common annual timetable for grant holders to confirm that the information in the system is complete and up to date, and the next data-gathering period will be 1 February 2018 to 10 March 2018. Non-compliant researchers will lose eligibility to apply for further awards from any Research Council and any current awards will have their payments withheld until such time as the PI becomes compliant.

  • Research integrity

We are committed to promoting and supporting high standards in all aspects of research integrity, including ethics and governance.

  • Scopus

Scopus is a large and continually updated abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed academic content in the fields of Life Sciences (4,000+ titles), Physical Sciences (7,000+), Health Sciences (6,000+) and Social Sciences and Humanities (5,000+). Scopus provides a range of tools to track trends, patterns, and citation and research impact. On-campus access is direct; off-campus access requires University username and password.
