Role

Dr Betul Gumus is a senior lecturer in Business Analytics in the Department of Strategy, Analytics and Operations. She contributes towards teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Some of the modules that she is teaching are Business Analytics, Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics, and Principles of Management. Betul also supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.

Career overview

Betul received her PhD in Operational Research from the University of Nottingham and MSc in Operational Research and Performance Management from Aston Business School. She also holds a BEng degree in Industrial Engineering from Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul.

Research areas

Betul’s research interests and activities lie at the interface of operational research, computer science and artificial intelligence, specifically optimisation of complex real-world problems using metaheuristics. Her other research interests include parameter tuning, intelligent decision support systems, multi-criteria decision making, performance measurement and data analytics.
