Betul Gumus is a senior lecturer in Business Analytics in the Department of Management. She contributes towards teaching operations management, analytics, data analysis, statistics related modules in undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Betul also supervises undergraduate research projects in BA (Hons) International Business programme.
She received her PhD in Operational Research from the University of Nottingham and MSc in Operational Research and Performance Management from Aston Business School. She also holds a BEng degree in Industrial Engineering from Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul.
Betul’s research interests and activities lie at the interface of operational research, computer science and artificial intelligence, specifically optimisation of complex real-world problems using metaheuristics. Her other research interests include parameter tuning, intelligent decision support systems, multi-criteria decision making, performance measurement and data analytics.
