Edward Griffin

Role

Ed is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Single Honours Year Tutor for general pathway of the Psychology BSc (Hon) Undergraduate Course. He teaches on a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate modules and is a module leader for PSYC40405 and PSYC40495 MSc Psychological Well-being Modules. His teaching and research areas are typically related to psychological well-being, mental health, neurodiversity, mindfulness, and research methods.

Career overview

Ed's PhD was in the area of psychological well-being and examined the effects of Balanced Time Perspective and Character Strengths on the success, psychological health and well-being of undergraduate students. This led to an exciting teaching and research career in the areas of Positive Psychology, mental health and neurodiversity.

Research areas

Positive Psychology, mental health and the student experience cut across much of Ed's research and played a significant role in his PhD. He is particularly interested in Time-Perspective, Strengths, Mindfulness, Flow and Psychological Well-being. He is currently involved in research studies evaluating mindfulness interventions among students, and exploring well-being in higher education. Ed has previous research experience in neurodiversity, mental-illness and suicide. He is a mixed-methods researcher, who embraces both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

External activity

Ed co-leads an NTU Global Summer School course on psychological well-being for two-weeks over the summer period which reaches out to student across the globe.
