Role

Gruia-Alexandru Dimcea is Course Leader for the BSc in Paramedic Science within the Institute of Health and Allied Professions at Nottingham Trent University.  He teaches across the Paramedic Science portfolio, and is mainly involved in Legal and Ethical Practice, Paediatric, Professional Practice and Leadership and Critical Care skills.

Career overview

Gruia completed his Paramedic Science training at the University of East Anglia between 2015 and 2018. He later undertook a BSc in Rehabilitation Studies at the University of Birmingham, graduating in 2021, and subsequently achieved a Diploma in Urgent Medical Care from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2021.

Gruia began his professional career as a Paramedic with the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST), where he worked from 2018 to 2020. He then served as a Paramedic with ELITE EMS from 2020 to 2025, gaining extensive experience across emergency and event-based medical services. Alongside his clinical work, Gruia joined Nottingham Trent University in 2021 as a Lecturer, a role he continues to hold. In 2025, he also began working as a Paramedic with East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), maintaining his active engagement in frontline paramedic practice.

External activity

Gruia Dimcea continues to work as a frontline Paramedic within A&E Operations for East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) and remains an active event Paramedic with a range of private companies across the Midlands.
